OUR ADOPTION & RESCUE PROCESS

Our Rescue Center in Los Angeles works to rescue dogs from high kill shelters and terrible situations of neglect or abuse. Many of the dogs we rescue are on the verge of being euthanized at local Southern California city and county shelters, or are rescued by us from intense hoarding situations, abandonment or other horrific conditions.

A lot of our dogs come to us in very bad shape - many have ticks, fleas and severe matting. We’ve had dogs with hundreds of ticks on their little bodies, as well as dogs that have cuts and bruising from their matted fur ripping at their skin. Many dogs need minor surgeries, multiple medications and, in some cases, severe surgery. We also often take on severe medical cases that other shelters cannot commit to - and work with our Veterinary Partners to treat and rehabilitate these sweet pups.

Upon intake, each dog is evaluated by our Vet Tech or Vet, to make sure they are in good health and have the treatment and love that they are desperately in need of. Our animals come to us from various backgrounds and unsanitary conditions, so we first must insure they don’t bring diseases, ticks or fleas into the Center - our procedure is to separate new residents in our Medical Grade Isolation Room, in a sterile environment, where they are monitored and treated by our vet tech and checked on by a vet before interacting with other dogs. They are also groomed and #Vanderpuffed so we can reveal the sweet personalities hiding beneath the neglect!

We like to bring in dog trainers and rehab specialists to work with our rescue dogs if they need it - especially those who have suffered injuries or abuse at the hands of previous owners. It’s a great way to build up a dog’s confidence, assimilate him to new owners and get him ready to meet his forever family!

Finally, we then pay to vaccinate, spay and neuter each dog, to get them ready for their forever home! We work with several professionals in the industry to ensure the dog is ready to go to their forever home. When potential adopters come in, they first fill out an interest form - this can also be done online. The forms are approved by our executive team who makes sure the adopter is ready and equipped for a new dog. After the initial paperwork is approved, a home check is done. This is where we ensure the home is a safe and healthy environment for the rescue animal. After the home check is passed, the dog is ready to go home with their new parents and live happily ever after in their new forever home!
