HOMELESS PROGRAMS
* Due to Covid19 our Comfort & Cuddles Program is on hold *
On any given night in Los Angeles County, 60,000 people can be found homeless and about 20 percent have a pet. For many homeless people these animals are a source of non-judgmental love and are typically the only family they have left in their lives. Research shows that dogs can help people cope with mental disorders and can give them a level of camaraderie or friendship that they may need to feel better about their current situation. These companion animals provide unconditional love, loyalty, companionship, and protection. Homeless pet owners typically cannot afford to provide quality health care for their companion animals but we,at the Vanderpump Dog Foundation, have the resources to help with our Homeless Companion Animal Outreach Program.
Once a month, we will supply the basic preventative care to dogs of the homeless. On average we are expecting to treat 50 dogs/month including:
Flea medication
Core vaccines
Deworming
Food/ treats
St. Joseph Center of Venice and Midnight Mission Downtown LA and Orange County will be assisting in reaching out to the homeless community to attend the event and will also provide the space for the event to occur. Villa Blanca’s Angel Program will supply food from their Beverly Hills location for all attendees of the event as well.
